Regular Season Round 6: Rio Maior - Sheffield College 67-80

There was a minor upset when second-best PortugueseRio Maior (2-4) was defeated by fourth ranked British Sheffield College (7-2) 80-67 on Thursday. Sheffield College trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-67. Sheffield College dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Rio Maior 's 26. Sheffield College forced 23 Rio Maior turnovers and outrebounded them 43-17 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Portuguese forward Joao Prado (196-2008) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds. Kelvin Talbot chipped in a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Pedro Ribeiro (-2009) who recorded 21 points and Thiago Baia added 11 points and 5 steals respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sheffield College have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-2 record. Loser Rio Maior keeps the second place with four games lost.
